RBSE announces REET exam for grade 3 teachers

AJMER: The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) on Friday
announced the first Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher-2015
(REET). The exam will be conducted on February 7, 2016, as per the
guidelines and syllabus of National Council for Teachers' Education. REET
will replace the Rajasthan Teachers' Eligibility Test (RTET) for placement
of grade three teachers in government schools. Appointments will be on the
basis of merit in REET.

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje at the time of state assembly elections had
promised to change the RTET pattern. On Friday, state education minister
Vasudev Devnani released the process of REET at the board office here. He
said that candidates who will be found eligible in REET will get the job
before the next academic session. The department has released 15,000 posts
of grade three teachers and eligible candidates will get direct appointment
as per merit.

The shortcoming of RTET pattern was that candidates first had to clear the
eligibility test for teachers and then apply for the examination for
getting appointment as teachers in zila parishad but now the candidates
getting place in REET merit will directly get into the process of
appointment. "Candidates now do not have to fill two applications to become
a teacher," added Devnani. He further said that candidates who had already
cleared the eligibility exam of RTET are also eligible to participate in
the process of selections

Board chairman B L Choudhary said that board has prepared to conduct the
exam and will release the merit order of candidates. Briefing the process
board secretary Meghna Choudhary said that the candidate has to appear in
the REET exam and the board will release the merit list of all candidates
appeared in the examination. "Candidates will then give options of two or
three district for the appointment of teacher in government school and as
per the merit the candidate will get appointment" added Devnani.

He further said that as per the
availability of posts the candidates will
get the job and at present state government has released 15 thousand grade
three teachers' posts and candidate who gets in merit will get the chance
of appointment. "This process smooth the selection method and candidates do
not have to wait" further said Devnani.

The selection of grade three teachers are conducted by Jila Parishads or
primary education department and as per the posts sanctioned, every
district will get the merit list of eligible candidates and according the
merit the candidate will get the job which will bring transparency in
selection process. The selection of grade second and first is conducted by
Rajasthan Public Service Commission and this REET is not applying on this
selection.

Secretary Meghna Choudhary added that the on-line applications process will
start from 18 November to 16 of December. Fees of the application will be
submitted from 18 November to 17 December on E-mitra.

Candidates who had applied for RTET exam-2013 which was not conducted have
to apply again for REET exam.but they do not have to pay the fees. "Even
those candidates who cleared the RTET exam can reapply for this exam to
improve their merit. The exam will be conducted in two sessions in which
first session will be for the teachers for classes I to V and the second
for teachers for classes VI to VIII.

State govt plays safe, asks candidates for affidavits

The state government which will be organizing REET exam for the first time
for the selection for teachers is also playing safe by asking the
candidates to submit an affidavit along with the application form stating
that even after getting place in merit list, the candidate will not have
the right to appointment.

There was a hurdle for state government to manage both eligibility test and
appointment as the state education board is not authorized for selection
and appointment to any post. The government keeping in mind the litigations
in previous years related to selection of teachers in government schools
released the
process of REET on Friday.

Under REET, the candidate has to submit an affidavit with the application
stating that he had gone through the process as per the amended guidelines
of National Council for Teachers' Education. He has to verify that he is
eligible as per the qualifications asked for the REET exam and will produce
original certificates and documents at the time of appointment.

The candidate has to also verify in the affidavit that he is aware that if
he passed the REET exam and also got place in the merit, even then he does
not get the right to appointment. Getting in the merit of REET is the
minimum qualification for selection process.
